About Us

We are a locally owned and operated tour out of Homer, Alaska. The “end-of-road” doesn’t mean the adventure stops.

Here at Alaska Bear Adventures, we thrive on providing a once-in-a-lifetime experience for you, your friends, and your family viewing Alaska coastal brown bears. We provide small groups with personal guides to make your experience one of a kind. With multiple trip options, we can provide this incredible tour to a majority of people.

When we are viewing the bears, our goal is to minimize our impact on the environment as much as possible. We only leave footprints, and we only take pictures and memories to last a lifetime.

Ty's Photo

Ty, Director of Operations

Ty is a Montana born and raised farm kid who flew his first plane sitting on his dad’s lap when he was 5 yrs. old. He spent his first summer in Alaska on a Salmon Fishing boat in Bristol Bay in 1999 and it became his permanent home in 2016. Since then, he’s been all over Alaska flying passengers, cargo, tourists, and the occasional plane full of Iditarod Dogs and mammoth tusks.

Ty’s passionate about Bears, conservation and protection of Alaska’s land and wildlife, and the opportunity to share those things with other people. So, if you like long walk’s on the beach with Bears and sunsets in the cockpit, then you’re looking in the right place. Come fly with Ty and the ABA crew, he can’t wait to adventure with you.

Tim, Director of Maintenance

Tim is a farm kid from Ohio, who was offered three dollars an hour to sand wooden spars for an antique airplane, thus beginning his career in aircraft maintenance. He has been a pilot for 23 years and had his pilot's license before his driver's license. Now he's been in Alaska for over a decade and has 3500 hours flying in and around Kachemak Bay. When he's not flying or maintaining our aircraft, he and his wife are homeschooling their kids and happily working on their off-grid homestead north of Homer. Tim takes a lot of pride in maintaining our aircraft, he can often be found laying on his back scrubbing the planes ensuring they are a fleet we can be proud of. You may not see him often but he is a vital part of the ABA team!
